I am a textile designer specializing in weave, with a practice informed by South Asian architectural heritage. Through woven textiles, I explore how cultural narratives can be preserved and reinterpreted within a contemporary fashion context. My MA project investigates woven textiles as an alternative approach to architectural heritage preservation through the reinterpretation of Sheesh Mahal, translating deteriorated surfaces and architectural fragments into woven structures. My design approach is rooted in material exploration, structural experimentation, and the translation of visual research into tactile woven surfaces. I am particularly interested in the relationship between cultural heritage and the emotional significance it holds. Through my practice, I aim to create contemporary textile work that preserves the value of craftsmanship and authentically represents South Asian cultural identity in an era shaped by fast fashion and mass production.
