I am an MA Fashion & Textiles student interested in alternative approaches to creativity and expression. Frustrated by conventional design methods, I explore whether restriction and quantified systems can serve as creative tools rather than limitations in my knit practice.
Over 12 months, I subjected myself to continuous self-surveillance, recording aspects of my daily routine to build a personal archive that directly informs my creative decisions. What began as a structured system gradually consumed my life and enabled design outside the pressures of trends and consumer expectations.
My work challenges the idea that personal practice must rely on emotional storytelling or explicit self-expression to feel intimate or meaningful. In the future, I hope to continue advocating for alternative creative methodologies beyond textiles, encouraging those who feel disconnected from traditional creative practices to engage with craft in ways that feel personal and authentic.
