Jamie James Santoro

Nicole Delgado Santoro also known as Jamie James Santoro is an artist and educator from Quito, currently based in Nottingham. Her practice blends humor, storytelling, and scientific curiosity rooted in her love for animals, her country, and its unique wildlife, her practice is especially inspired by misunderstood species. She began her career as a self‑taught digital illustrator in 2009 and later earned a BFA in Visual Arts from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador in 2019, supported by a government scholarship. Although not formally trained as a biologist, her work is driven by a deep fascination with native mammals—their behavior, habitats, and cultural significance—which strongly informs her artistic approach. Through a caricature‑based, educational style, she creates accessible and engaging visuals that spark curiosity about lesser‑known species. Her work also extends into video, where she explores themes surrounding mental health.
