Growing up near the Vale of Belvoir, nature and natural foliage have always played a key factor in my textile designs, allowing me to capture intricate details and textures in still life drawings that I can then develop further into beautiful designs suited for interiors. This final collection ‘Awakening from seasonal depression’, shows revived colours that through darker times would have been muted. By going on mental health walks and immersing myself in wildlife, it has allowed me to create a feel-good collection, through my choice of comforting colour tones and carefully selected fabrics. My main strength is my hand drawing, this I have wanted to shine through in the collection, giving an illustrative and story telling feel to the work, where the animals are coming out of hiding and survival mode and into brighter times which is also reflected in our own mental health. With this collection I hope to demonstrate my surface pattern skills both manual and digital, showing my enjoyment
