Lily McEwan

I am a print textile designer who focuses most of my work on texture and fine drawings. Tattooing has largely inspired my drawing style and my interest for this practice has influenced a lot of my projects including my graduate collection which delves deeper into tattooing and body art history. This body of work follows tattooing from ancient tribal markings to the modern day, highlighting ways that we have translated our surroundings into art and fashion designs. As a young woman who has been interested in fashion throughout my life, I wanted to create a womenswear collection that has a current but also timeless feel. My work primarily consists of fine liner, Biro and ink drawings which are developed into textile designs using Photoshop. Throughout my studies I have been involved in industry briefs and have worked with brands including Ashley Wilde. Creating a collection for their KAI brand opened my eyes to working commercially and developed my knowledge with industry design.
