Tom Dean
I would consider myself a multi disciplinary artist, my work tends to revolve around philosophical and psychological subject matters such as Hauntology and the uncanny. My work isn't always serious in tone however, I've drawn influence from graffiti and street art and I often enjoy a playful approach to work where the process takes precedence over the research. I enjoy the process of assemblage, repurposing old or forgotten things to create new and often surreal imagery with sci fi and fantasy elements, whilst also evoking a sense of nostalgia. To be able to balance art and commerce whilst also having creative freedom is the ultimate goal for me in the future, catering for contemporary audiences in the alternative music and film industries as well as exhibiting work in a gallery setting. I am extremely grateful for my time at university and I look forward to seeing how the skills I have achieved over this time can help me to achieve my goals.
