Lucy Sewall
I was born in Bridgend and raised in Hertfordshire. Having studied Art, Graphics, and Photography in High School, I gained skills in a variety of creative areas. I then later perused my passion for art when I moved to Nottingham to study a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University. I am an abstract painter who finds interest in expressionism. Being from a place by the sea, my work often translates from the inspiration of the landscape. Some of my early works exhibited in Letchworth Garden City, ‘Ton Fyrnig’ (2018) were direct inspirations from Porthcawl pier where I'd visit as a child. My later works share some similar motifs as My piece ‘Weathered’ exhibited in the Bonington Gallery, is inspired by movements, colours and forms found in the motion of the sea. Feeling as though this is a place of calm and comfort to me, I find my expression of art in this to be something of a therapy. Art therapy is something I have considered as a career option for me.
