Emma-Jane Haskey
I'm a final year BA (Hons) Theatre Design student who strives to create imaginative abstract spaces using texture and colour. Alongside my passion for set and costume design, I have an aptitude for scenic art, developing my skills with placements at Rocket Scenery and Oily Cart. This year, I designed and constructed a set for two realised shows, Frankenstein and Emilia. To balance the eras and atmospheres of the classic Gothic horror and the forgotten story of a Tudor feminist poet, I designed an organic tree structure inspired by English Gothic hammerbeam arches that worked for grand interiors and nature. I also designed a speculative set and costume scheme for the Nottingham Playhouse prize, 'Village Idiot', creating a bold cracked landscape that reflects themes of destroying nature and community. After graduation, I want a career working in theatre, with a focus on designing sets and costumes while developing my skills of scenic painting, model making and AutoCAD.
