Eliza Gooden
I am a final year BA (Hons) Fine Art student. Imaginative play with cotton reels and dressmaking pins under my grandmother’s sewing machine as a child, informed my storytelling practice from an early age. As a mature student, I come to my practice with some useful skills gained from diverse working background in charity fundraising, upholstery, interior design and public relations, all skills which I find useful in my artistic practice. Research into Plasticosis in birds, has influenced my showcase piece, 'Can I See Them?' The work explores a future where human bodies are so polluted by micro plastics, that babies are stillborn. This piece provided me with a safe environment to unpack the loss of my first child; a baby I never saw. After graduating, I plan to continue studying for my MFA at NTU and develop my storytelling art quilt practice.
