Rachael Whetton
Rachael Whetton is an artist born in Derbyshire who studies BA Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University, where her practise cultivated into a deep examination of the experiences of womanhood and their complex nature. She has thus far displayed her work in the Amore Prope Exhibition 2021, the Paradise Complex Exhibition 2021 and NTU Degree Show 2022. Enthralled by the long lost freedoms of youth amidst a stifling world pandemic, her work draws us back to more simple times while exploring her metamorphosing identity and conflicted feelings in what it means to be a perfect woman. She has always been a lover of pink and works to assess its associations with femininity and wield its power with full force. Furthermore, she is highly multifaceted working with acrylics, watercolours, oil pastels and soft sculpture, combining them in a strangely seductive and visionary way that cushions the viewer in an enchanting and un-apologetically feminine dream world.
