Pale Blue Dot is an immersive installation of woven fabrics. Each design captures the transience of moments through shifting lines and shapes of organic colour. I was initially inspired by sensory experiences of colour and light, elements trapped within the present moment. This began a process of searching for ways to replicate the natural irregularities and movement I found. The bleeding marks, faults and holes that I created became an aspect of spontaneous beauty. Natural dyeing, a method of colouring fabric which is unpredictable and ever changing, was integral to my project. With the interaction of light, my designs are transformed into galactical shadows casts on the surrounding walls. The representation of small, fleeting moments become part of a deeper sense of time; one moment within the history of the universe. This is deeply inspired by the Voyager One space probe image, of our tiny planet from the edge of the solar system, named Pale Blue Dot.
