I am Nina Solomon, specialising in woven textiles for interactive and 3D design. My love for sculpture, creative arts and avant-garde furniture design has fuelled my design work, in which I combine the values of visual intrigue and practical design. Soft City: Nottingham explores the potential of 3D design with tactile, movable and interactive modules for a site-specific installation. Using imagery from Nottingham City to inform my colour, patterning, textures and interaction concepts, I want participants to feel a sense of familiarity and connection with their city, inspiring a sense of place through art. The Covid-19 Pandemic has brought questions about public space and the importance of play to the surface and Soft City: Nottingham encourages joy and creativity in interest of rebuilding social networks in post-pandemic communities. Creating accessible ways for people to explore creativity and play has driven my current project and will continue to throughout my creative career.
