I am Molly Brockhouse and I specialise in woven textiles. Through this practise I have created a contemporary unisex collection celebrating femininity and masculinity harmoniously with the idea of comfort as a focal point. I chose Jared Leto as a muse as he embodies what it means to be comfortable within your own skin and sexuality -unapologetic from his wardrobe to how he carries himself – a sense of playfulness. My inspiration comes from everyday sensory surroundings whether it be the visual softness of clouds, the satisfying fluidity of water, the calming smell of lavender or physical connection to nature and the people around us. Pushing the norms of what androgynous fashion can be is important to me as a designer, I believe that mental wellbeing is greatly impacted by the clothes we wear as it’s a form of expression that acts as a portable confidence boost.
