Michael Noujeim
My name is Michael, and I am a costume student with a passion for academic writing, hiking in the Lake District and cat-sitting. Fine Art has been in my blood since I first picked up a crayon, however I truly shine when working with unconventional materials. One of the many unique skills I have developed is the ability to take something so simple, to then overcomplicate it to the utter dismay of my peers. For example, in 2019 I received the Young Arts Award from the Arts Society of Steyning for my A Level “Pattern” project featuring screen printing of Doc Martins, 1960’s womenswear and portraiture inspired by Malian photographer Seydou Keita. I was drawn to the costume industry very last minute, not just to expand my creative process, but to connect and collaborate with an outstanding community dedicated to research and experimentation. After graduation I will continue to train and then hopefully specialise in men’s tailoring to master the cut of a brand spanking suit jacket.
