As a womenswear designer, speaking up for women’s rights is important to me. Capturing the oppression women have faced over the last century inspired my design process for this project. Although progress has been made over recent years in regard to women’s fashion, I feel boundaries need to be pushed further. My project titled ‘Living in a man’s world’ focuses on how society is male-dominated and plays around with the concept of women working in typically ‘masculine’ jobs. This project has enabled me to push my creative pattern cutting. In the future, I intend to make garments accessible to all women and create clothing that encourages self-confidence in any situation. Through collaborating with well-known fashion brands such as Next and River Island I have gained valuable experience that has influenced my work from working with professionals within the industry.
