Maisie Stevens uses a vibrant colour palette and a graphic style combining cartoonised imagery and text across a range of mediums. She was bought up in a rural village in East Sussex but moved to Nottingham in 2019 to complete her BA (Hons) Fine Art. Coming from a small town there wasn’t much to do, so she used people watching as a pass time and today this has significantly influenced the context of her work. Her love for textiles started at the young age of 6 when her Nan who worked as a seamstress introduced her to a sewing machine, her textile art has grown ever since now including other mediums such as embroidery and tufting. Whilst studying a foundation diploma in art and design she begun to explore painting and found her key style, this is constantly evolving as to what’s inspiring her within her surroundings.
