Lorraine Murphy
Lorraine Murphy is an artist working in ceramics and metal to compose sculptural adornments. Lorraine's observations of the urban environment have imbued her work with natural forms co existing with the unnatural. Palettes are often inspired by graffiti with the calm solace of oxides and patinas. Lorraine chose porcelain for its highly prized translucent qualities, to create a sense of light and fragility. Metal objects were created to communicate emotional containment and strength, whilst the vessels symbolise our need to keep and attach ourselves to memories places and people. This group of artefacts are non gender specific, with a dual purpose as a sculpture when not being worn.
