My project is an adaption of the book "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo", a fictional novel based on the rising actress Evelyn Hugo in the Golden Age of Hollywood, turning it into a 7-part television series focused on each of the marriages in separate episodes. Within my project I sought to well represent the Golden Age of Hollywood in period accurate clothing, as well as the time periods that followed, exhibiting them all in a distinct way. This is due to the fact the book spans from the 1950’s up until present day, and therefore reflects a variety of time periods. Through this, I produced final designs and a line up consisting of the ten characters, all of whom reflected slightly different eras of Hollywood. Two of my designs became physical costumes: I created a costume for Evelyn and for one of her husbands, Rex North. Evelyn’s costume sets her in a scene of an Academy Awards red carpet, dressed up in all her Hollywood glamour, and Rex’s fits himself into a 1960's daytime look.
