Katie Lumb
My name is Katie Lumb, and I study Costume Design and Making. Throughout my University experience I have discovered my passion for working with hard materials, and using technical fabric manipulation techniques in my work. I am also interested in the construction and dressing of different styles of armour. That being said I enjoy being able to interpret any brief and bring it to life. My latest project 'Queen Arthur and The Knights of The Round Table' was designed for a modern ballet production, with the intent to challenge the stereotypical depiction of the Arthurian legends. Recently, I have been lucky enough to work on a Japanese paper regency wardrobe exhibition where I helped mend costumes, handle the exhibitions, set up the site and run materials. My plans for becoming part of the working costume community is to develop and broaden my construction skills in fabrics and hard materials, and being involved in new film productions, making props and costumes for sets and performers.
