Jenny Davison
My work mainly focusses on period and fantasy costume. I am passionate about storytelling and aim to create exciting and distinctive worlds through visual narratives. My designs are influenced by historical research and illustration works for fantasy fiction and tabletop gaming. I have a particular love for the fashions of the 18th and 19th centuries and enjoy experimenting with fantastical elements to blend real history with the cultures of imagined worlds. I take commissions to illustrate original character portraits, and my costume work has appeared on stage in my local theatres. I have experience with several wardrobe department jobs: embellishing pre-bought costume items, constructing and repairing garments, selecting appropriate items from an existing stock, and helping actors backstage. Costume and character design form the audience’s key connection to the world of a piece of fiction, so my work combines the familiar with the unknown to create immersive and interesting stories.
