A Place You Create is a children’s interior collection inspired by nostalgia and contemporary craft techniques such as passementerie. It is designed to create a playful, tactile, and uplifting environment within a child’s bedroom, to encourage both individual and social play. I have explored this through the use of cords, colour, and pattern driven by my personal childhood experiences to develop abstract designs within my visual research. This collection consists of both hand and digitally woven techniques with a combination of texture and pattern to create a diverse range of bold and subtle fabrics to capture the exuberance of children’s artwork. A Place You Create can be customised as desired with needle tufted iron on patches to increase the longevity of the collection and decrease the need for change.
