My name is Jade, I am a designer that likes to create art through printed textiles for interiors. ‘Haughton’ is a personal collection celebrating my Jamaican background and me. This project was a difficult journey, but luckily being creative involves exploring different styles of thinking, I had to approach this with an open mind. I have an eye for colour and abstract paintings which I have explored throughout this year, merging an 80’s theme with a handmade style through a painterly approach. Specialising in print has allowed me to combine my style and personality with my heritage, creating a sense of nostalgia of my childhood memories with my family. This collection is designed for a hotel, an immersive experience replicating a Caribbean environment. After graduation, I would like to travel to experience different cultures and capture insight into print techniques and processes before starting my future career in the creative field.
