Emily Burton is a BA Photography student who is passionate about fashion. Emily's work focuses upon the introduction and exploration into the aesthetic of alternative subcultures and inspired her to continue this theme into her final project and beyond. This has resulted in Emily producing a variety of fashion photographs which have a primary focus upon streetwear from a specific under represented demographic such as individuals who wear alternative types of clothing. These types of clothing are generally worn by people that represent themselves in a certain way, this is a way of forming their identity as an outsider from mainstream fashion and culture. Being different and having ones own sense of individuality and identity is important today more than ever with an overruling and controlling political power over the people of the UK. This project allows for people to present their identity and individuality which enables a power in the people to be themselves and what they stand for.
