2020:2021 is a high-end fashion collection specifically for outerwear, based on the COVID-19 lockdown. Prior to the pandemic, travel was something I’d always enjoyed, from exploring the UK to travelling abroad. Lockdown made me appreciate the opportunities of travel I’d previously experienced and grew my desire to travel and experience new places again. My final collection is divided in two - ‘Captive’ and ‘Freedom’. Captive has a black and white colour palette to reflect the monochrome days of lockdown. While Freedom uses liberating colours found from images I’d taken whilst travelling. I was awarded a scholarship by Worshipful Company of Weavers, this allowed me to experiment with new fibres such as mohair and merino. The final body of work consists of hand-woven textiles and digital prints using a combination of bold, large-scale designs and more subtle designs to cover a variety of techniques, creating a cohesive collection suitable for my intended application and market.
