I am a print specialist and I love being hands on in the workshops screen printing my designs. However, having used this process throughout my years at NTU, in my final project I wanted to push myself to see what else I could create. Extending the boundaries of what textile art is, or could be, I have experimented with a range of different mediums and techniques, thinking outside the box to produce some larger-scale art installations. This has given me a wider knowledge of different materials, not just fabrics, as well as processes which I found both challenging and rewarding. In our second year, I especially enjoyed the ‘live’ project, working to a brief from a leading textiles company trying to fulfil their requirements whilst collaborating with my group to present a collection. I think throughout my years here what I’ve most enjoyed is experimenting to see what works and learning new processes on the way. I’m looking forward to progressing further while working in industry.
