Hi, I’m Becca, a mixed media textile designer from Northamptonshire.I love pushing the limits of embroidery, experimenting with non-conventional materials and textile processes. During my MA at NTU, I have really enjoyed creating my own textiles using silicone which is something that I had not explored before. This experience opened me up to a whole new world of possibilities within fashion and textiles and really pushed me to think outside of the box when sourcing my materials. Where possible, I do try to choose materials and processes that are sustainable, for example using old electrical wires and metal nuts as beads. The focus of my MA project was to explore what femininity is now and what it may be in the future. I believe that the link between fashion and femininity is an interesting one as fashion can be used as a powerful tool for positive social change. In the future I would love to be able to continue material experimentation working in the fashion and textiles industry.
