My final year project ‘Exotic Wildness’ is a vibrant and energetic interior collection inspired by exotic plants and landscapes. I have combined digital and hand-drawn elements throughout my collection, focusing on colour and mark-making. My designs have an abstract and maximalist feel to them, they uplift emotion and wellbeing through colour and pattern, giving a connection to the natural environment. Researching important topics such as Biophilia, Wellbeing and climate change in the Amazon rainforest, has given me insight into the global issues we face and how connecting them to my project can bring awareness and improve health and happiness. Looking at David Hockney’s work has not just inspired my project in terms of colour and tropical designs, but it has inspired me as an overall designer. I have been creating designs on the iPad, just like David Hockney. I’ve enjoyed it and feel it captures my personal style.
