As a fashion design student, I have found a real passion for gender and masculinity whilst being at university, leading to it being the main focus of my dissertation and basing my final major project off of it. I am so interested in the concept of masculinity and what this means for society and the future. My final major project ‘A Man Among Men’ was showcased at Graduate Fashion Week 2021 which has been my best and proudest achievements. It was a feminine menswear collection which made reference to the Casuals Culture of the 80s and Margaret Thatcher’s pussycat bow blouses. Merging a toxically masculine subculture and a woman in a man’s world to create a collection men would actually want to wear. My Future plans consist of using my communication and critical thinking skills to hopefully become a fashion buyer and start my career within the fashion industry.
