Hi, this is Mai from MA Culture, Style & Fashion. My focus in this course is fashion within modernity, femininity, and heritage. This is a continuum of my work back in Vietnam with local, indigenous fashion brands and Fashion Revolution Vietnam. Combining the insights I learned from my work experience, I retrospected it in the given material in the course and scrutinised the sartorial behaviour of Asian culture in the Western-dominated fashion industry. Working with images as marketing tools, I am intrigued by visual, storytelling materials such as clothings, paintings and films which are also the hobbies I love doing. My future plans is to insert my knowledge of fashion studies to continue working in the fashion and art industry. Also, I hope to contribute to the reuse and recycling practices of clothings through businesses and non-profit projects.
