I am a textile designer, and my specialism is print. My MA project is called Craft in a Digital Age. Following a trip to Japan a number of years ago, I was inspired by the culture. Their attention to detail was inspiring. I began to look at some of these traditional textile crafts, and the skill and time involved in them. I have been exploring hand stitch and dye crafts and reinventing them in new ways. I always begin my design process by creating original drawings and types of mark making. Following the first Covid 19 pandemic lockdown I took comfort from my natural surroundings. I experimented with print using natural processes such as Bundle dye, rust printing and many more. My printed fabrics and wallpapers are made up of layers of stories and techniques, lovingly created by hand, they have authenticity, originality and longevity.
