My name is Andra and the focus of my work is fashion sustainability. My project is entitled ASAP which stands for As Sustainable as Possible As Soon As Possible. ASAP combines zero waste womenswear with elements of menswear tailoring and sustainably sourced fabrics and trims, while the colour palette and the prints were inspired by the World Wildlife Fund and endangered species. Each item is dedicated to one endangered species and has a corresponding tag. The wooden swing tags are meant not only to explain the inspiration behind my collection, but also to educate the consumer about the negative effects pollution and human intervention have on wildlife. As designers I believe it is our duty to use our art to kickstart the change we so desperately need: “The story about the design needs to be as beautiful as the design itself.” (Bruno Pieters, 2016)
